The Battle of the Hook reenactment on October 18-19, 2008 was the result of years of planning and the vision of local historians “Bucky” Burruss, Warren Deal, and others. The operations on the Middle Peninsula, Gloucester County, Virginia, assured that the Crown Forces at the town of York (Yorktown) would not be able to resupply themselves or escape the siege of the combined Continental and French forces. This was a memorable invent that included more than 1500 reenactors, authentic maritime landing craft, the first female 4 star general in the U.S. Army, and paricipation of the SAR in a Memorial Wreath Laying ceremony to William Lewis, Esq, behind Warner Hall
The organizations of the Brigade of the American Revolution (BAR) British Brigade and Continental Line joined forces to pay honor to the troops and actions that took place here 228 years earlier. The County of Gloucester, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and many individuals, too many to name here, all made this commemoration possible.
