It was a unique concept - certainly not one which had heretofore occurred in the memories of the delegates, to gather representatives of the American Revolution Round Tables in a National Congress. When asked, the event organizer averred "The sole purpose of getting everyone together in one place was to get everyone together in one place." Richmond, Virginia was the place, as it is centrally located on the eastern seaboard, and has its own share of Revolutionary War history, as evidenced by the equestrian statue of George Washington placed prominently in Capitol Square of the Virginia Commonwealth. Twenty six delegates representing 11 of the current 16 ARRTs gathered together to meet one another, make new friends, share their experiences and to lend support to newly organized Round Tables. This was not intended to be a governing body to set policy nor formulate guidelines, but to share "best practices" amongst its members. Judging by the overwhelming acclamation that a Committee of Correspondence be formed to plan a second ARRT Congress, the Inaugural meeting of this body was judged to be an unqualified success.
